Luciano Carvari Delicious Footwear Ads

Usually ads for shoes  do not excite me much, but the 'Flora - Amore' ad campaign for the Luciano Carvari Spring-Summer 2008 Footwear collection is a creative and exciting exception. The campaign has a theme of bringing shoes & flowers together, and was shot in Thailand, Morocco, Zanzibar, Mexico, Chile, Peru, and on the territory of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Botanical Gardens. Wow, I wonder how much the traveling budget was!

Cate Blanchett by Annie Leibovitz in Vanity Fair

Cate Blanchett gets the Annie Leibovitz treatment in the February 2009 issue of Vanity Fair magazine.  My favorite shot is the one below where Cate Blanchett is styled by Michael Roberts as Cleopatra in a John Galliano gown.  As usual Leibovitz's photography is dynamic and has a nice depth to it that lacks in most celebrity photoshoots.

D&G Time Commercials by Mario Testino

Check out these two Docle & Gabbana commercials for D&G TIME directed by Mario Testino. The commercials have a theme of theives trying to go through the airport security with lots of accessories (D&G ofcourse). They both start with the same sequence, but the above is the male and below is the female version.

Faceless Maison Martin Margiela in Arena Homme+

Following the crazy sanatorium themed Interview Magazine editorial I featured a couple of weeks ago, I bring you another freaky editorial that celebrates the 20 years milestone of Maison Martin Margiela. This time, the masked editorial by Olivier Rizzo in the new issue of Arena Homme + magazine features the photography work of Willy Vanderperre.

Hanging Out with The Aliens

A very cool photoshoot (from 2006)  by photographer Ruven Afanador with movie star Michelle Monaghan. She held her own like a pro model in such a 'unique' storyline and setting. The shot with the giant ant brings back memories of a horror movie I saw as a kid which haunted me in nighmares quite a few times!

Diesel Spring Summer 2009 Ad Campaign

Diesel has released more images from their Spring 2009 ad campaign. And while they are not as kinky as the first Jon Kortajarena foot-fetish image, the whole ad campaign, which was shot in black & white, is deliciously dark and enigmatic. A very good job by Diesel and photographer John Scarisbrick.

Hermes Fall-Winter 2008-2009 Ad Campaign

A rather unusual but very creative theme for the new Hermès Fall/Winter 2008-2009 ad campaign. Snowy mountaines are used as the backdrop to showcase the pieces with model Mariacarla Boscono and photography by Eric Valy. Rather refreshing!

Retro Street Glam with Guess by Marciano S09 Ads

I love these new ads for Guess by Marciano Spring 2009. The retro vibe and the iconic cars concepts have been used so many times before, but they work brilliantly here. Also, there is something universal about the flirty street fashion theme where a stylish attractive female walks down the street and the guys follow her around. The campaign information is scarce at the moment, all I know is that one of the male models is Jon Kortajarena (aka, the guy in the now infamous Diesel foot fetish ad from last week).  I will provide the photographer's details asap, although I have a hunch it's Mario Testino, given the similarities to his recent Club Campari's 2009 Calendar with Jessica Alba.
